120 Best GPT Image 2 Prompts for Designers (2026 Edition)

Last updated: 2026-04-23 β€” GPT Image 2 released 2026-04-21

This is the designer-vertical prompt library for GPT Image 2 and Google Gemini Nano Banana 2. Every prompt below has been tested on both models and is structured so the image you get out is production-ready, not something you throw away when the typographer shows up.

The rest of the AI image internet is generic: search "logo prompt" on any public library and you get 500 variations of "modern minimal tech logo, vector, clean, 4k". That is not a prompt, that is noise. A designer prompt spells out hero subject, composition, mood, palette, lighting, and negative space reserved for typography β€” because a poster is not just an image, it is an image plus a title plus metadata plus a call to action.

How to use this library

  1. Pick the vertical that matches your deliverable (poster, album, movie key, architectural render, packaging, book cover, logo concept, illustration, banner, social graphic).
  2. Copy the template and replace the bracketed slots with your subject, brand, or campaign specifics.
  3. Paste it into our playground and pick GPT Image 2 (3 credits) for premium typography fidelity, or Nano Banana 2 (2 credits) for balanced quality at lower cost.
  4. Iterate 2-3 times. First pass is the sanity check; second pass tightens mood; third pass nails palette.

Why two models? GPT Image 2 is the industry leader for in-image text rendering and fine typography β€” when you need the words to actually look right, use it. Nano Banana 2 is faster, cheaper, and better for image-to-image variations. We run both because no single model wins every category.

Model comparison at a glance

| Capability | GPT Image 2 (ours, 3 cr) | Nano Banana 2 (ours, 2 cr) | Midjourney v7 | DALL-E 3 | |---|---|---|---|---| | In-image typography | Best-in-class | Good | Weak | Good | | Image-to-image | Yes | Best (reference-preserving) | Yes (/blend) | No | | Commercial use | Yes (OpenAI ToS) | Yes (Google ToS) | Pro tier | Paid tier | | No-login access | Yes (via ours) | Yes (via ours) | No | No | | Speed per image | 20-60s (relay) | 3-10s | 30-60s | 15-30s | | Price per image (our cost) | $0.05 | $0.02 | ~$0.03 | ~$0.04 |

Competitive reference: our vertical-narrow approach contrasts with broad libraries at OpenArt, DesignWiz, and Promptomania β€” all of which list 1,000+ generic prompts across every conceivable subject. We trade breadth for depth: 120 hand-tested designer prompts across 10 deliverable types, each with composition lanes spelled out.

Now the library.

1. Poster design (12 prompts)

Poster prompts live or die on hierarchy β€” the viewer's eye has to land somewhere specific, then walk through title, subtitle, body, and CTA in that order. Every prompt below reserves negative space for typography.

  1. Minimalist concert poster, indie band, deep navy background, single spotlit microphone, negative space reserved for title typography, photographic, 35mm lens feel
  2. Travel poster, [destination city], retro 1960s airline style, flat illustration, bold geometry, saturated turquoise and sunset orange, clean top margin for airline branding

  10. University recruitment poster, aspirational student portrait, library or lab backdrop softly blurred, institutional blue palette, full-width bottom banner for program name

  12. Protest march poster, bold silhouette hands raised, limited 2-color palette, large-type slogan placement front and center

2. Album covers (12 prompts)

Album art is square-first (Spotify / Apple Music thumbnail = 640x640). The prompt must work at 64x64 pixel thumbnail scale β€” if you can't tell what it is from a favicon distance, it fails.

  1. Indie folk album cover, lone figure on snowy ridge at dusk, cinematic composition, artist name placement lower-left reserved, muted earth palette
  2. Synthwave album cover, gridded purple horizon with distant neon sun, retro-futuristic, artist name in chrome typography reserved area upper-center

  12. Ambient music album cover, close-up macro of water droplet on leaf, shallow depth of field, subtle artist name reserved lower-right

3. Movie posters (12 prompts)

Movie posters are aspect 2:3 and have to communicate genre instantly. Use negative space at bottom for billing block and studio logos.

  2. Romantic drama poster, two figures on windswept coastline facing each other, backlit by ocean sunset, title area upper-center

Architectural renders sell lifestyle, not concrete. The prompt must specify time of day, weather, human context, and material palette β€” otherwise you get a CAD screenshot with a sky texture.

Packaging mockups must show the product in its intended retail context β€” on-shelf, in-hand, or in-use. Neutral studio shots miss the purchase moment.

6. Book covers (12 prompts)

Book covers live as 2D thumbnails on Amazon / Goodreads and as 3D objects in bookshops. Both must work. Specify spine legibility too.

  12. Academic textbook cover, abstract geometric pattern related to subject matter, university-palette, title and subtitle blocks upper-half

Logo prompts are the trap β€” every generator defaults to "modern minimal tech logo". The fix is to specify industry, mood, and what the logo is NOT.

  1. Boutique coffee shop logomark, hand-drawn coffee cherry motif, warm burgundy color, serif wordmark, not geometric, not minimal tech
  2. Law firm logomark, classical column silhouette, deep navy and cream, serif wordmark, professional but not stuffy, not shield-based

8. Illustration styles (12 prompts)

For illustration, specify the reference style explicitly β€” "hand-painted gouache", "flat vector with subtle noise texture", "1950s mid-century modern" β€” otherwise you get the default slop style.

Banners are aspect-specific: web banner is 3:1, mobile hero is 2:1, billboard is 5:1. Specify aspect in the prompt and leave a clear focal zone plus a dead zone for the CTA button.

  1. Web hero banner 3:1, product-launch scene with hero device on gradient, negative space right-third for headline and CTA button, tech palette

Common mistakes and how to dodge them

Too many style words. "Cinematic, photorealistic, highly detailed, 8k, trending on ArtStation, award-winning" β€” pick one, not all. They cancel out. Specify composition and mood before style.

No negative space. If you don't reserve a text zone in the prompt, the model fills the whole canvas with visual interest. Always specify "bottom third reserved for title", "upper-left clean for logo", etc.

Asking for in-image text without quoting it. To get specific words rendered in the image, put them in quotes: ...with the word "AWAKEN" in bold uppercase near the top. GPT Image 2 respects this. Nano Banana 2 is decent at it. Other models are unreliable.

Forgetting aspect ratio. Pick aspect in the playground before generating. Poster = 3:4 portrait, album = 1:1 square, movie = 2:3 portrait, banner = 3:1 or wider.

No iteration budget. First generation is rarely keeper quality. Plan for 3 runs per brief: sanity, tighten, nail. At 3 credits per GPT Image 2 image, that's 9 credits β€” roughly two days of free quota. Budget accordingly or upgrade.
